Probably the most overstated reason to be interested in Power, but the rapper’s rather frighteningly effortless transition into the cold-hearted gangster Kanan is nothing short of impressive. He’s making his directorial debut in Season 6, and I’m here for it!
Let’s be honest, LaKeisha in Season 1 was just a side-character getting screen time thanks to the actress’ fame. Turns out La La can act! Five seasons later she’s become just as important to the plot as any other.
Love him or hate him, we all love watching him. We might not relate to Ghost at times, but have you seen a better looking man in a suit? It’s easier to tolerate his childish fits (the other kind) when he keeps his fashion game at an A++.
Some of the fiercest females in show biz, the women of Power never hold back when it’s game time.
It was Kanan. Then it wasn’t. Then it was Ray Ray. Now he’s dead. Is it Dre? Alicia? Tate? Tommy?? Saxe??? You know it’s an interesting show if you catch yourself cheering for each and every character at some point.
Dude sets a living man on fire for answers. Sister signs off on her brother’s assassination. The most innocent character is killed off in the most unexpected way. Father kills his own goddamn son. I mean talk about WTF moments!
I’m just gonna leave this here…
You can’t have a show about gangsters in Gotham City without an homage to the Italians. The Teresi side-plot that later becomes a crucial catalyst in the main conflict between Tommy and Ghost is a thriller to follow.
Speaking of the Big Apple, few shows based in New York depict the full spectrum of the urban experience as well as Power. No wonder it’s been described as The Wire meets Breaking Bad with a dash of Sex in the City.
Maybe it’s because once you’re midway into Season 1 you’re hooked for the long ride, or maybe it’s because the plot transitions are so smooth, but good news — you can skip all the anxiety of waiting after a cliffhanger since all 5 seasons are available on the STARZ App!
Whatever “The Final Betrayal” and “It All Comes Down to This” means, it sounds like they’ve got the biggest season up their sleeves. We’ll find out this season!
