We all love a true story from the past brought to the present. With romance sagas, history recaps, and documentaries being some of the most predominant manifestations of this theme, we often lack a little bit of thrill and excitement that’s found in today’s most popular drama and action, series and movies.

You’re in luck, The STARZ App has yet another gripping STARZ Original that will leave you begging for an episode every day. Black Mafia Family, produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, follows two brothers growing up in the rough streets of Detroit, Michigan as they make their climb to power. Want to hear more? Continue on to find out everything you need to know about BMF.

1. The show is inspired by a nail-biting true story

BMF is inspired by the Detroit Black Mafia Family, organized by brothers Demetrius “Big Meech” and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory. The Black Mafia Family was a money laundering and drug trafficking organization founded in Detroit in the late 1980’s. The organization would eventually go on to enter the entertainment industry within hip-hop music as “BMF Entertainment”, where they promoted several notorious artists as a way to gain favor within the community. BMF does a remarkable job pulling in historical knowledge and reimagining it to cater to the modern viewer.

2. The cast is full of star-studded talent from across industries

The BMF cast is nothing short of iconic and fitting, with celebrities and actors like hip-hop rapper “Snoop Dog” as “Pastor Swift” and actor Russell Horsnby, who’s featured in other famous series like “Lincoln Heights” and “Grimm”, as “Charles Flenory.” The talent brought to the show has left viewers and critics desperate to see some of their favorite stars in creative new roles.

3. The show was two years in the making

What’s not commonly known is that “50 Cent” first spoke about his plan to produce the show in 2019. With very little mentioned after that, fans were curious what would come of the story, and if it would ever reach their screens. When The STARZ App released the trailer on Thursday, August 24th, 2021 after two years of near radio silence, the crime drama fanbase was abuzz. We think the wait was more than worth it – you can binge the whole first season now and find out for yourself!

4. You can watch other content with a 7-day free trial of the STARZ App

Lucky for all of us, The STARZ App is currently offering a 7-day free trial, where you can enjoy its borderline limitless catalog of hit tv shows and movies before the premiere of BMF. With an opportunity this good, we would want to get this offer before its too late.

Sound intriguing? BMF is on the STARZ App NOW! Don’t miss it!
