1. Home Alone

If you missed out on this classic Christmas movie in December, don’t worry, you can still catch it! For those that might be too young to remember, Macaulay Culkin plays Kevin, a kid from a large family who accidentally gets left at home during the big Christmas trip. What starts out as a nice break from his hectic home life turns into a hilarious game of cat and mouse when the Wet Bandits, brilliantly played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, decide they want to rob the supposedly empty house. This is easier said than done, though, as Kevin puts the two hapless burglars through a gauntlet of booby traps using nothing but some household items and sheer creativity.

2. Spider-Man: Homecoming

While there are a multitude of Spider-Man films out there (six to be precise), there is a reason why critics are raving about Spider-Man: Homecoming. The story follows a young Peter Parker as he returns home after a successful stint with the Avengers. A new friendship with Tony Stark helps him embrace his new identity as Spider-Man, but he must also balance his superhero lifestyle with the more normal outward facing life he leads. All of these challenges will be put to the test when the evil Vulture rises up to threaten life as he knows it. With universally positive reviews, Spider-Man: Homecoming is a great candidate for any movie night!

3. Mission: Impossible

This 1996 spy thriller is still one of Tom Cruise’s most well-known films. It was so popular that it has spawned five sequels over the years, each starring Cruise as super-spy Ethan Hunt. In this edge-of-your-seat thriller that started it all, Hunt is falsely accused of being a traitor to his country. Without the resources of the CIA, he must build a team to not only prove his innocence, but recover a document that is so important that entire countries would be willing to kill for it. Fun fact: George Clooney was originally offered the part of Ethan Hunt before it was eventually given to Tom Cruise.

4. Ghostbusters

If you were a fan of the original Ghostbusters (and let’s be honest, who wasn’t) you’ll love the 2016 remake! Featuring an all-star female-led cast, including SNL hit comedians like Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig, this version truly pays homage to the original, and is an excellent film in its own right. In an epic quest to fight a surge of paranormal activity in New York City, and stop the apocalypse, these heroines take us on a hilarious journey of science fiction, proton lasers, and knee-slapping comedy. What’s not to love?

5. WALL-E

This Academy Award-winning movie took animation to a new level. Pixar was already known for its incredible storytelling, but WALL-E broke the mold with its opening act in which there was no dialogue until the 22-minute mark. In a children’s movie! With brilliant animation and a poignant story that remains relevant today, this love story between two robots is a must-watch movie if you haven’t had the pleasure of seeing it yet.
