TOP 5 TV SHOWS

 1. Power

Everyone knew we were going to start this list off with Power. It’s one of the most popular shows on the network and it’s easy to see why. If you’re one of the few people who hasn’t heard of this acclaimed series, here’s a quick rundown:  James ‘Ghost’ St. Patrick is a self-made business man who runs Truth, one of the hottest clubs in New York City.  Ghost is also leading a double life as one of the Big Apple’s most notorious drug kingpins. The real drama starts when Ghost decides he wants to leave his life of crime to focus on becoming a legit high-powered CEO.  Of course, nothing is ever that easy and his struggle to shake off his old life makes for some absolutely amazing television.

2. Outlander

In a world where it seems like there are fewer and fewer original ideas, Outlander comes along and shows us something completely unexpected. Based on the best-selling book series by Diana Gabaldon, it details the story of Claire Randall (played by Caitriona Balfe), a happily married combat nurse at the height of World War II who is mysteriously transported back in time to 1743.  Thrust into an unknown world, Claire is forced to marry Jamie, a chivalrous and romantic Scottish warrior.  This develops into a fiery and passionate tale of love, intrigue, and mystery. It’s messy, complicated and will suck you right in.

3. American Gods

You’ve seen Greek Gods, Norse Gods, and Egyptian Gods, but have you seen New Gods? This fascinating series is based off the fantasy/American novel written by Neil Gaiman and introduces us to some fascinating new figures to add to the pantheon of mythical deities. Ricky Whittle plays Shadow Moon, an ex-con who unwittingly becomes a pawn in a war between old gods you might have heard about and new ones who draw their power from modern society like Media, Technical Boy and Mr. World. Throw in a 6-foot tall leprechaun, a zombie, and the mysterious con-man Mr. Wednesday and you’ve got a show that will definitely keep you guessing.

4. Ash Vs Evil Dead

Bruce Campbell is back!  Evil Dead and its sequels are some of the most beloved horror movies ever made and now viewers are treated to a weekly installment of Ash going toe-to-toe with some of the worst things Hell can throw at him. There is a plague of demon-possessed zombies threatening to take over the world and it’s up to Ash and his ragtag group of survivors to defeat them once and for all. Fans of horror-comedy, your prayers have been answered.

5. Party Down

Party Down is a totally underrated STARZ show. While it aired a long time ago (2009 to be precise), it has an absolutely incredible cast including Paul Rudd, Adam Scott, Jane Lynch, Martin Starr (most recently Gilfoyle on Silicon Valley), and Ken Jeong (of Hangover fame). The show casts each character as someone hoping to make it in Hollywood – to make ends meet, they work for a catering company that has a wide (and truly bizarre) range of clients. Every episode is hilarious – we wish STARZ would bring this show back!
