1. Jumanji: The Next Level
Our Rating: 9/10
Our Take: Martha, Fridge and Bethany reunite in this laugh-out-loud action comedy to rescue Spencer from the world’s most dangerous game. Just like nothing is as it seems in the gang’s personal lives as college freshmen, Jumanji has changed its rules – uncharted territory and unexplored obstacles abound in the unexpectedly fresh sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
2. Charlie’s Angels (2019)
Our Rating: 7/10
Our Take: The 2019 reboot of the beloved series follows a new generation of Angels as they defend society from weaponizable tech. The mission takes the Angels globally as they track down the intended buyer and put their lives on the line for the sake of society. A strong female trio, with a comedic role played by Kristen Stewart, it may not be Drew, Cameron and Lucy, but it’s still got that fierce, independent girl power vibe and we love it for that.
3. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Our Rating: 8.5/10
Our Take: Johnny Depp is outstanding as always in his reprisal of the role of Captain Jack Sparrow. Jack crosses paths with a mysterious former acquaintance of his, the charismatic Angelica, whom he can’t decide whether she’s a fabulously talented con-artist using him to find the Fountain of Youth or his true love. Either way, Jack is taken on one hell of an adventure on Blackbeard’s ship, “Queen Anne,” during which betrayal, love, and revenge make for many a plot twist.
